Industry Standard Cross Reference Guide

ASTM D-709, 1997, “Standard Specifications for Laminated Thermosetting Materials.”

This standard matches, fairly closely, the grades that are in NEMA LI-1 and was re-approved in 2001. For the most part, the reference to military standards is out of date, and most of them have been removed from circulation because they are obsolete.

This standard is utilized to obtain information about the test methodology used to measure specific properties. The ASTM is well recognized for its work in standardizing procedures and test methods as well as conditions that should be present in the laboratory or equipment from which the testing is performed. Norplex-Micarta’s lab and testing is done in strict accordance with the ASTM standards as described in this document.

Although G-3 tubing grades are recognized by NEMA, ASTM and MIL-I-24768 standards as a material form, property requirements are undefined at this time.

NEMA Standard LI-1 and MIL-I-24768 do not recognize a high temperature epoxy glass convolute rolled tube form, but, these materials are manufactured with a high temperature epoxy resin system, commonly used for NEMA G-11 and MIL-I-24768/27, type GEB sheet products, and do have improved thermal properties at elevated temperatures.
